Church Building Partnership Project

Short history

In 1991 God prompted me to appeal to the authorities of Vilnius city for allocation of the plot of land for the constructing The Word Of Faith Church building. After the competition for the project of the building 30 April, 1992 the Board of Vilnius city allocated to us a plot of land in the lower terrace of Lazdynai district. Since then every year the church would apply to the Urbanistics department for the specification of the boundaries of the land which were needed in order to make a rent contract, and for the specifying of "red lines". However, the answer did not come until 1998. During that period the Lord was trying our faith through His word and goodness, but also was strengthening us in every way testifying that we are going to receive the land for building a church.

In 1995 again prompted by the revelation, I applied to the city authorities asking permission to set up a tent during the warm period of the year for the services of the church to be held until we have built our own building. Actually, there were no chances to get such permission. However, through the infinite grace of God, thanks to several miracles, the Urbanistics department gave us a favourable answer. When the answer was not clear yet, we all joined in order to raise up money to buy two tents - one seating 1500 people for the services in Vilnius, and the other - for evangelistic meetings in different towns of Lithuania. God broadly opened the hearts of the believers and poured out the spirit of giving. The needed amount of money was raised up within two months. Since then every summer Vilnius church meetings have been held in the large tent.

In 1998, under certain circumstances, the office of the church in one week had to move from the rented facilities of the former kindergarten at the address Broliu 16. The house that we found within two days with the help of the Lord not only answered our needs, but also turned up to be right beside our plot of land. It was one more sign from the Lord which strenghened our faith to build our own church building.

After half a year the Vilnius city Board of Administration defined our "red lines", and August 3, 1999 - the first day of our IXth Living Gospel Conference - the chief of the Administration of Vilnius District finally signed the land rent contract that we've been waiting for for seven years (though the church has been paying the land rent all this time).

At present new church building project, which has already been confirmed by the City Architects Board, is being finished. It's obvious that with God's help we dealt with practically all juridical problems related with the building. Financial problems still remain. I am sure that the last ones are not bigger than the former ones. Dealing with juridical problems depended upon the will of others. Dealing with financial problems depends on us, believers.

Building partners

Though the estimate of the building project is not final yet, approximately it is about 5 mln Lits. For the building we are expecting to receive a credit from some Lithuanian or foreign bank, and to accomplish the paying back of the credit from the funds raised by the Building Partnership Project. The goal of this project is the financing of the Word of Faith Church building. Building partners are believers who by their free will decided to offer monthly offerings for the construction of The Word Of Faith Church building. The bigger is the number of the participants and the more faithful they are to their decision, the quicker this project will achieve its goal - defrayment of the construction expenses. Let's say, if 1000 building partners respond, whose monthly contribution is 100 Lits, then the credit would be paid back within five years or so.

I think that this project is real and can truly be accomplished through God's grace and our self-denial. Therefore, I invite all The Word Of Faith Church members to take part in this, as well as others, whose hearts will be stirred by the Lord and who support us and believe in our success.

Biblical examples

There are many examples in the Bible how God would use good-will offerings of the people, and their laboring in building the temple. In Exodus 25 we read that God showed to Moses the example of the tent and the things that will be in it, and commanded to build the temple exactly according to it. However, all the people of Israel were encouraged to take part in it, "Speak to the children of Israel, that they bring Me an offering. From everyone who gives it willingly with his heart you shall take My offering. <...> And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them" (Exodus 25:2,8). These verses exactly describe the basic principle of the Building Partnership Project. It shows that in the carrying out of God's purpose the entire nation takes part, not just separate individuals. Everyone has a part to play. What part? According to the desire, given by the Lord, "Then everyone came whose heart was stirred, and everyone whose spirit was willing, and they brought the Lord's offering for the work of the tabernacle of meeting. <...> The children of Israel brought a freewill offering to the Lord, all the men and women whose hearts were willing to bring material for all kinds of work which the Lord, by the hand of Moses, had commanded to be done" (Exodus 35:21,29). Likewise, the desire to take part in building, put in by the Lord, and freewill choice is the foundation of our Building Partnership Project.

Surely, the temple of the New Testament is the believers, and not their meeting place. The description of the building of the first Israel temple serves us not as a command that we have to carry out by letter, but as a biblical principle. We see it again in Ezra, when the nation takes up to rebuild the ruined temple, "...all whose spirits God had moved, arose to go up and build the house of the Lord" (Ezra 1:5). In Nehemiah we read about the continuation of that building - the rebuilding of the city walls. Again we see that all worked (see Nehemiah 3). May the words of Nehemiah be the motto of all our building partners, "The God of heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build" (Nehemiah 2:20).
