Freedom of religion - test for democracy and the dominating religious community

On 7-8 December 2000, the Ministry of Justice of Lithuania hosted in Vilnius an international conference, Religion and Right in a Civil Society. Topics discussed at the conference were closely related to the issue of freedom of religion. Speakers discussed, among other issues, new religious, spiritual and esoteric movements. Experts of religions place The Word Of Faith churches within these categories. Encouraged by this conference we decided to devote to the topic "freedom of faith" a number of articles seeking to analyze in a greater detail the issue which many believers consider to be a pressing one and to look back at the hardships our church has faced fighting for the establishment in our country of freedom of religion and equal status of all religions, as these are among the basic principles of democracy.
